On direct bookings, a fixed fee from Guesty can appear inside the accommodation fare instead of as its own line item.
Why this happens. The fee’s behavior is controlled in Guesty, not on the booking website. The website displays exactly the price breakdown that Guesty’s Booking Engine API returns, and it does not merge or split fees on its own. When a fee is set to be included in the accommodation fare for the Booking Engine API source, Guesty folds it into the fare before sending the quote. The fee then arrives bundled and is taxed as part of the accommodation fare rather than following its own taxable setting.
Showing the fee as its own line item. Adjust the fee in Guesty:
- Open the fee under Additional Fees in Guesty.
- Check how it is configured for the Booking Engine API source.
- If only Include in Fare is selected, also select Deduct from Fare.
With both options active, the fee comes through as a separate line in the Guesty folio, the guest-facing total stays the same, and the fee follows its own taxable setting instead of being taxed as accommodation. You can compare the target behavior against a fee on your account that already shows as its own folio line for direct bookings, such as a credit card processing fee.
Fees that appear as a balance due. If a fee appears in Guesty as a balance due after booking rather than inside the checkout total, it is configured to attach after booking rather than in the quote. Change that setting so the fee is included in the quoted price.
Testing the change. After saving any changes, run a test booking on the website for a few nights and verify that the Guesty folio shows the fee as a separate line. Afterward, cancel and refund the test booking in Guesty, because it is a real reservation and will block the calendar.
