In Keyword Search settings, the Show description text on cards checkbox is greyed out and cannot be ticked.
Why this happens. The checkbox stays disabled until the Toolkit can confirm that your site’s cache does not serve stale listing responses to keyword search requests. Keyword search cards can quote a sentence from a listing’s description, and a stale cache could keep showing an outdated sentence after the listing is edited.
HomeRunner-hosted sites. From Toolkit 3.305.51 onward, this is verified automatically, so the checkbox becomes available once you are on that version or later. The current public version is 3.341.1 and includes this change. To update and turn the option on:
- Go to your WordPress dashboard.
- Check for plugin updates.
- Install the latest Toolkit release.
- Tick Show description text on cards and save. No index rebuild is needed.
What the setting does. When the checkbox is on, a card whose match comes from the description quotes the matching sentence directly. When it is off, the card shows ‘Mentioned in the description’ instead.
Other hosting setups. If your site is on a different hosting setup and the checkbox is still greyed out after updating, contact support so the cache configuration can be confirmed and the option enabled for your site.
