If the onboarding payment form says your card’s security code is wrong even though you entered it correctly, the cause is usually that the card’s own bank verification is failing, not that the code was mistyped.
What you can do. Try these in order:
- Make sure the billing ZIP you enter matches the ZIP on the card’s statement. A ZIP mismatch commonly comes back looking like a security-code error.
- Type the security code by hand instead of letting your browser autofill it. Autofill sometimes inserts an old, wrong value into the masked field.
- If you are using an American Express card, enter the 4 digits on the front of the card, not the 3 digits on the back.
- If the card still does not go through, try a different card.
If your bank is blocking the charge. Some banks block the first save to a new merchant as a fraud precaution. A quick call to the number on the back of the card clears that.
If you made several attempts in a row. The form temporarily pauses repeated attempts. Wait about 15 minutes before trying again.
