No verification code email at admin login

When you log into your website admin, the two-factor authentication screen asks for a verification code, but no email arrives.

Why this happens. The instruction text on the two-factor screen is generic and shown to everyone. The site only emails a code if your account’s two-factor method is set to email. If your account is set to app-based codes instead, no email is ever sent and the Resend Code button does not appear.

What you can do.

  1. Check your phone for an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, Microsoft Authenticator, or similar) with an entry for your website. The six-digit code it shows is the code the login screen wants.
  2. If you no longer have the app, or do not recognize having one, contact support to have the two-factor setup on your account reset.
  3. After the reset, log in with just your username and password. The site walks you through setting up two-factor again, where you can choose the One-time code via email option so future codes arrive in your inbox.
