Abandoned-cart records showing today’s date

Abandoned-cart records in your email marketing platform may show today’s date even though the guest browsed weeks ago.

Why this happens. Cart events are sent to your marketing platform only once the guest is identifiable by email. When a visitor browses anonymously, their cart records are held until that guest later returns and identifies themselves, for example by filling out a form, clicking a magic link, or using an email-capture tool. At that point, all of their eligible open carts are released to the marketing platform in one batch.

What the date means. The date shown in the platform reflects when the record arrived there, not when the guest actually shopped. A cluster of same-day records for one contact typically means a returning guest just became identifiable, and the underlying shopping activity may be much older.
