When your website shows Web server is down with Error code 521, the network layer in front of your site (Cloudflare) is running normally but could not reach the server your website lives on for a moment.
Why this happens. A 521 error is almost always temporary. It is most often caused by brief maintenance on the hosting side rather than anything wrong with your website itself. These interruptions typically resolve on their own within minutes.
What you can do.
- Wait a few minutes and reload the page.
- Try a second device or a private/incognito window to rule out a cached error page.
- If the site is still showing the 521 error after 15 minutes, contact support and include a screenshot of the error page if you can. The timestamp shown on the error page helps support pinpoint the event in server logs.
No action on your website, content, or settings is needed. Your site’s data is not affected by this type of interruption.
