The recovered revenue figure in the cart abandonment dashboard can look much larger than the bookings the tool actually brought back.
Why this happens. The figure includes two types of attribution. Tool-driven attributions count bookings that followed a recovery email or on-site banner delivered by the system. Matched attributions count cases where a visitor abandoned a cart and later completed a booking on their own, with no recovery nudge involved. Matched attributions are based on date and property overlap. They reflect correlation, not causation.
If your site has never sent a recovery email, the entire recovered revenue figure is made up of matched attributions. It does not represent money the tool actually brought back.
Measuring tool performance. To judge how the tool is performing, check whether recovery emails were sent and whether those specific bookings followed.
