# Cart abandonment recovered revenue looks too high

The **recovered revenue** figure in the cart abandonment dashboard can look much larger than the bookings the tool actually brought back.

**Why this happens.** The figure includes two types of attribution. **Tool-driven** attributions count bookings that followed a recovery email or on-site banner delivered by the system. **Matched** attributions count cases where a visitor abandoned a cart and later completed a booking on their own, with no recovery nudge involved. Matched attributions are based on date and property overlap. They reflect correlation, not causation.

If your site has never sent a recovery email, the entire recovered revenue figure is made up of matched attributions. It does not represent money the tool actually brought back.

**Measuring tool performance.** To judge how the tool is performing, check whether recovery emails were sent and whether those specific bookings followed.
