On a site without the Conversion Kit active, the Checkout Guest Step module still shows guests the extra step, but nothing is recorded. No abandoned-cart events or recovery emails are produced.
Why this happens. The Checkout Guest Step module only changes the checkout flow so guests enter their details before payment. The capture itself is handled by the Conversion Kit’s checkout-capture endpoint.
What you can do. To capture abandoned-cart data on a site:
- Install and activate the Conversion Kit.
- Enable the Cart Abandonment tool and make sure the site has a valid license.
- Keep the Checkout Guest Step module on.
On any site that will not run the Conversion Kit, switch the Checkout Guest Step module off so your guests are not shown an extra step that serves no purpose.
