On a Guesty-connected site, the checkout page can show no card fields and display the message ‘An error occurred. Please try again.’
Why this happens. HomeRunner needs your Stripe publishable key before the checkout can display a card form. Guesty tells HomeRunner which Stripe account you use, but does not pass the key itself, so you need to add it once manually.
To add your publishable key:
- In Stripe, open Developers, then API keys, and copy the Publishable key. It starts with pk_live. The secret key is not needed for this step; it is optional and only turns on card validation at checkout.
- In your HomeRunner dashboard, open PMS Connections, click the three dots on your Guesty connection and choose Payment Providers.
- Click the edit icon on the Stripe row, paste the key into the Publishable Key field and save. The row status changes from ‘Requires Configuration’ to ‘Active & Configured’.
- Reload the checkout page. The card form appears and bookings go through.
If you use more than one Stripe account in Guesty, each one appears as its own row, and each needs its own publishable key.
