Connecting AI Concierge live chat to Slack

Until Slack is connected, the Talk to a person button in AI Concierge opens a short contact form, and the guest’s details are emailed to your lead inbox.

Live chat from Slack requires a one-time connection to your own Slack workspace. Only a workspace admin can authorize this connection.

  1. In WordPress, open AI Concierge, then the Live Concierge tab.
  2. Under Availability and Presence, turn on Enable Live Takeover and set your days, hours, and timezone. Outside those hours, guests get the contact form automatically.
  3. Click Create your Slack app. Slack opens with the app pre-configured. Pick your workspace and create the app, then use Install App to install it to your workspace. If Slack reports a problem with the manifest, shorten the app name to 35 characters or fewer.
  4. Copy the Bot User OAuth Token (it starts with xoxb-) and the Signing Secret from the app into the Bot Token and Signing Secret fields, then save.
  5. In Slack, pick the channel for live-chat requests, invite the app’s bot to it, and paste the channel ID (in the C0123456789 style, not the channel name) into Operator Channel. Click Test connection.
  6. When someone is staffing live chat, mark the team present on the Live Concierge tab or type /concierge on in Slack.

When guests see the live option. Guests only see the live option while live takeover is on, the current time is inside your hours, and an operator is marked present.
