After your site moves to its live domain, Google Maps shows a "Something went wrong" error instead of the map.
Why this happens. Your Google Maps API key is restricted to a list of allowed website referrers, and the live domain is not on that list yet.
How to fix it.
- Open Google Cloud Console and go to APIs and Services, then Credentials.
- Open the API key your site uses. This is the same key entered in HomeRunner settings under Google API Key, and in your theme’s Google Maps setting if you use one there.
- Under Application restrictions, choose Websites and add two entries: https://yourdomain.com/* and https://*.yourdomain.com/*. The wildcard entry does not cover the bare domain, so you need both.
- Save the changes. The update applies within a few minutes.
- Reload the affected page and confirm the map renders correctly.
If someone else manages the Google API key for your site, contact support and support can add the domain for you.
