Your site stops responding and visitors see an error message when they try to load it.
Why this happens. The site has reached its PHP memory limit. When memory use spikes past that limit, the site cannot respond normally and shows an error instead.
How it is resolved. Raising the memory allowance restores normal operation right away. The underlying cause of the spike is also investigated so the problem does not recur, rather than leaving the higher limit as the only fix.
If you or a guest see an error when accessing your site, report it to support right away so it can be handled quickly.
