Creating a Google Maps API key

You create a Google Maps API key in the Google Cloud Console.

1. Sign in to the Google Cloud Console.
2. Create a project.
3. Enable the Maps JavaScript API.
4. Set up billing. Google requires a card on file but includes free monthly usage that a typical vacation rental site will not exceed.
5. Create an API key.
6. Under the key’s Application restrictions, choose HTTP referrers and add your website domain so no one else can use the key.

Once you have the key, send it to support. Support adds it to your site and switches the map provider to Google Maps.
