Lost traffic source with PMS hosted checkout

After switching to a PMS hosted checkout, your Google Ads conversions may still be counted but show no traffic source.

Why this happens. This is expected GA4 behavior. When guests leave your domain to complete their booking on the PMS checkout domain, GA4 treats this as a new session and drops the original traffic source.

How to fix it. Set up cross-domain measurement in GA4:

  1. In GA4, go to Admin, then Data Streams.
  2. Select your web stream.
  3. Open Configure tag settings, then Configure your domains.
  4. Add the PMS checkout domain alongside your own site domain.

After configuring, confirm that the purchase event still fires on the PMS confirmation page with a transaction ID. Then re-verify your Google Ads conversion actions, since attribution windows only apply from when the fix goes live.
