Mailchimp tags for newsletter sign-ups

Sign-ups from your website’s newsletter form arrive in your Mailchimp audience without tags.

Why this happens. The newsletter form subscribes visitors directly to your Mailchimp audience. The specific audience is configured in the site’s newsletter element. The form itself does not apply tags, and tagging is not a setting on the website side.

What you can do. To tag incoming sign-ups automatically, set this up inside your Mailchimp account. You have two options.

  1. Add a default tag through an audience automation, using a Customer Journey triggered on "signs up to audience".
  2. Use Mailchimp’s signup-form settings for that audience.

Double opt-in. Turning double opt-in on or off is also controlled from the website’s newsletter element. Let support know if you want that changed.
