Search Atlas (OTTO) plugin: seeing its changes

If an SEO agency has installed the Search Atlas (OTTO) plugin on your HomeRunner site, it can change the pages your visitors receive.

What it changes. OTTO rewrites pages on their way to the visitor, page by page, once the Search Atlas service has suggestions for that page. Your HomeRunner property data, booking pages, and sitemaps are not managed by this plugin.

See a page without OTTO. To see a page exactly as WordPress built it, without OTTO’s changes, add ?otto_preview=1 to the end of the page address and reload. Then compare that against the normal page.

Find OTTO’s additions. Open view-source on the page and search for data-otto-pixel. Each block OTTO adds carries that attribute. Blocks wrapped in display:none are invisible to visitors but present for search engines.

Review and limit changes. If you see hidden headings, keyword lists, FAQ text, or links you did not add:

  1. Switch OTTO to approval mode in the Search Atlas dashboard so each change is reviewed before it goes live.
  2. Exclude pages you want left alone, such as your homepage, checkout, and property search, in the plugin’s OTTO settings.
