Adds a “How did you hear about us?” dropdown to your checkout page and saves each guest’s answer to the reservation notes, so you can see which marketing channels actually drive bookings.
What it does #
Checkout Survey places an optional dropdown on the checkout page asking guests how they found you. When a guest selects an answer, it is appended to that booking’s reservation notes, where your team can read it alongside the rest of the reservation in your PMS or in HomeRunner.
You control the label, the list of choices, and whether guests can type a free-text answer when they pick “Other”.
How to turn it on #
1. Enable the module #
Go to HomeRunner Toolkit in your WordPress admin and switch on Toolkit: Checkout Survey.
2. Configure the question #
Open the Checkout Survey settings panel and set your label and dropdown choices (see Settings below).
3. Save #
Click Save. The dropdown appears on checkout immediately for new bookings.
Settings #
- Label – the text shown above the dropdown on checkout. The default is “How did you hear about us?”
- Dropdown Options – one choice per line. These are exactly the options guests see in the dropdown. Common examples: Google, Instagram, Friend or family, Returning guest, Other.
- Allow “Other” text input – when checked, selecting “Other” reveals a text field so the guest can type their own answer. Leave unchecked if you only want the fixed list.
Tips #
- Keep the option list short. Five or six choices gets you useful data without slowing the guest down.
- Always include an Other option (and enable the text field) so you capture channels you have not listed yet. Those write-ins often reveal new sources worth tracking.
- The answer lands in reservation notes, not in a separate report, so check the booking record to read it. For automated, channel-level conversion data, pair this with Conversion Tracking.
