See the full price breakdown, rent, fees, add-ons, deposit, taxes, right in the booking widget as soon as a guest picks dates, instead of only behind a Price Details button they might not click.
What it does #
A guest who has to click through to a modal to see what they are actually paying for is a guest who might hesitate, or leave without asking. Inline Price Breakdown prints the same itemized breakdown your booking widget already builds, rent, fees, add-ons, refundable deposit, taxes, directly in the widget once a quote loads. It is built from the exact same line items as the existing Price Details modal, so totals always match wherever a guest looks.
What the guest experiences:
- As soon as they pick dates (and any add-ons or a coupon), the line items appear in the widget itself, either always visible or as a collapsed “Price details” row they can open, your choice.
- Each fee can show on its own line, “Cleaning Fee,” “Booking Fee,” or grouped into Rent, Fees, and Taxes, your choice either way.
- If you have written a short note for a fee, a small info button appears next to that line. Tapping it reveals your note right there, and it stays open even if the guest changes dates or applies a coupon and the widget refreshes.
- In markets with several separate tax lines, such as Hawaii, those lines can group into one subtotal row that expands to show the individual taxes, so the breakdown does not get swamped by tax detail.
How to turn it on #
1. Enable the module #
In the HomeRunner Toolkit Hub, switch on Inline Price Breakdown.
2. Choose where it shows #
The booking widget appears both on property pages and in the checkout sidebar. Use Where it renders to show the breakdown on both, property pages only, or checkout only.
3. Choose how it displays #
Pick Display style (always visible, or an expandable “Price details” row) and Line items (each fee listed separately, or grouped into Rent / Fees / Taxes). If you choose the expandable style, Accordion initial state decides whether it starts open or closed.
4. Fine-tune what shows #
Decide whether tax lines and the deposit line show inline, and whether the breakdown sits above or below the widget’s Total row. If your market has several separate tax lines, Tax display can group them into one subtotal row instead of listing each one.
5. Optional: add fee explanations #
In Fee explanations, add one rule per line in the form Fee Name || Explanation, for example Cleaning Fee || Professional cleaning before and after your stay. Guests see a small info button next to any matching fee line. Explanations only show when fees are listed separately, since a grouped “Fees” line has no single fee to explain.
Settings #
| Setting | What it controls | ||
|---|---|---|---|
| Where it renders | The booking widget appears on both property pages and in the checkout sidebar. Choose Both, Property pages only, or Checkout only. Default: Both. | ||
| Display style | “Always visible” prints the lines in the widget as soon as a quote loads. “Expandable” shows a collapsed “Price details” row that opens in place. Default: Always visible. | ||
| Accordion initial state | Only shown when Display style is Expandable. Whether the breakdown starts open or closed when the widget first renders. Default: Start closed. | ||
| Line items | “Each line separately” names every fee individually. “Grouped” shows one summed line per group using HomeRunner’s group labels (Rent, Fees, Taxes). Default: Each line separately. | ||
| Rent line label | How the accommodation line reads when lines are shown separately, per-night math (“$68 × 3 nights”) or the line item’s own title. Default: per-night math. | ||
| Tax lines | Whether tax line items render inline. Hidden by default, since the widget’s Total row and checkout still itemize taxes either way. | ||
| Tax display | Only matters when Tax lines is showing and there are 3 or more separate tax lines, such as in markets like Hawaii. “Each tax line separately” lists every tax line on its own. “Grouped” collapses them into one subtotal row that expands to show the individual lines. A site with only one tax line always renders it as a normal row either way. Default: Each tax line separately. | ||
| Tax subtotal label | Label on the grouped tax subtotal row, when Tax display is Grouped. Leave blank to use “Taxes.” | ||
| Deposit line | Whether a refundable security deposit line renders inline. Default: shown. | ||
| Position | Where the breakdown sits relative to the widget’s Total row, above or below. Default: above. | ||
| Price Details modal button | Optionally hide the core “View Details” button while the inline breakdown is showing, so guests do not see the same numbers twice. Default: keep the button. | ||
| Heading | Optional heading printed above the always-visible breakdown. Leave blank for none. | ||
| Accordion label | Label on the collapsed row when Display style is set to Expandable. Leave blank to let the row report its own state instead (“Show price breakdown” / “Hide price breakdown”); set a label and it is used in both states. | ||
| Fee explanations | Add a short note to a fee line. One rule per line: `Fee Name | Explanation`. Matching ignores case and a trailing colon, and only applies when fees are listed separately. |
Tips #
- If you use Fee Line Separator to reshape or rename fee lines, Inline Price Breakdown reads the same reshaped data automatically, no extra setup needed.
- Keep fee explanations short and factual, what the charge is and why it’s there, rather than a sales pitch. A guest tapping the info button is checking a number, not reading marketing copy.
- If an explanation is not showing up, check that the fee name in your rule roughly matches the fee’s actual line-item title, and that Line items is set to show fees separately rather than grouped.
- Selling to a market with a lot of separate tax lines, such as Hawaii’s GET and TAT? Turn on Tax display: Grouped so the breakdown reads as one tax subtotal instead of a wall of small tax rows.
- If your checkout sidebar feels crowded, set Where it renders to Property pages only and let the existing Price Details modal handle checkout instead.
