Toolkit: Label Designer

3 min read

Turn your property categories, tags, and amenities into styled badges on your listing cards, with full control over the look of every label.

What it does #

Label Designer lets you show small badges (labels) on your property cards, drawn from the categories you already organize properties into. Think “Beachfront,” “Pet Friendly,” “New,” or “Pool” appearing as a colored pill right on the card in your property grid.

You choose which labels show, what they say, and exactly how they look, all from one visual editor with a live preview. No code, no CSS knowledge required.

Labels can be designed for any of your property classification groups, including:

  • Property Types
  • Locations, Cities, and States
  • Tags and Discover Tags
  • Amenities
  • Flags

You set a base style for a whole group, then override individual terms when you want one to stand out (for example, a bright red “Last Few Left” badge while the rest of your tags stay neutral).

How to turn it on #

1. Open the Toolkit hub #

In your WordPress admin, go to HomeRunner → Toolkit.

2. Enable Label Designer #

Find Label Designer in the module list and switch it on. A dedicated Label Designer panel appears in the hub.

3. Open the designer #

Open the Label Designer panel to start choosing which categories show as labels and how they look.

Designing your labels #

Pick a group #

In the left Taxonomies column, select the group you want to work with (for example, Tags or Amenities). The Terms list fills with every term in that group.

Choose which terms show #

Each term has a Show toggle. Turn it on to display that term as a badge on property cards; leave it off to hide it. Use the Filter terms search box to quickly find a term in a long list.

Rename a label (optional) #

You can give a term a friendlier display name for the badge without changing the underlying category. For example, an internal tag called “promo-2026” can read simply “Special Offer” on the card.

Style it #

Open a term’s Style controls to adjust its appearance, with a live preview of the badge updating as you go. You can fine-tune colors, shape, an optional icon, and placement so labels match your brand.

Settings #

  • Enabled groups decide which of the eight category types are available to label.
  • Per-term Show toggle controls whether each individual label appears on the front end.
  • Per-term style overrides let one label look different from the rest of its group.
  • Custom label text changes what a badge says without renaming the category itself.

Tips #

  • Less is more. A card crowded with badges is harder to scan than one with a single, well-chosen label.
  • Use a strong color sparingly for urgency or scarcity labels so they actually stand out.
  • After you save, give your page a moment and refresh on the front end. If your site uses page caching, you may need to clear it to see new label styles immediately.
  • Labels appear on the property cards in your Explorer grid, which are drawn live in the browser, so always confirm changes on an actual property listing page rather than only in the editor preview.
