Show guest reviews with a little more privacy by shortening the guest’s name and simplifying the stay date, in the style you choose.
What it does #
A full guest name sitting next to a public review can feel like more personal information than a stranger reading your site needs. Review Display reformats how the guest’s name and review date show on your property page’s reviews section, in a style you pick from a few options.
What a visitor sees, using the defaults:
- The guest’s name is abbreviated to first name(s) and a last initial, so “Sarah Mitchell” becomes “Sarah M.” A name with more than two parts keeps everything but the last word, so “Mary Jane Watson” becomes “Mary Jane W.” A single-word name is left as is.
- The review date shows as just the month and year, so a review from any day in, say, March 2026 shows as “March 2026” rather than a specific date.
- If a review has no guest name recorded, only the date shows. If a review has no usable date, only the name shows.
How to turn it on #
1. Enable the module #
In the HomeRunner Toolkit Hub, switch on Review Display. The default name and date formatting applies right away to your property page’s built-in reviews section.
2. Adjust the name and date style (optional) #
Open the Review Display settings panel in the Hub if you want a different name style, a different date format, or to hide the date entirely. See the Settings table below for what each option does.
Settings #
| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Guest name style | How the reviewer’s name is shown. “First name + last initial” (default) displays “Sarah Mitchell” as “Sarah M.”; “Initials only” displays “S. M.”; “Full name” shows the name as stored. |
| Review date | Whether and how the review date is appended after the guest name. “Month + year” (default) shows e.g. “March 2026”; “Site date format” uses the date format from Settings → General; “Off” hides the date. |
Tips #
- This only changes how reviews display on the page. Your own admin, review exports, and the structured data search engines read keep the guest’s real name and exact date.
- Built for sites using the core plugin’s reviews section. If your site’s review section is built in YOOtheme instead, this module has no effect there.
- Works with reviews from any source, PMS sync, CSV import, or manual entry. See Review Importer for bringing in historical reviews.
- Pairs well with Review Visibility if you also want to hide specific reviews from the list.
