Toolkit: Checkout-Only Add-Ons

Show add-ons and travel insurance only at checkout, below the total, so guests choosing dates see a clean price and the optional extras come after it.

What it does #

By default, your booking widget offers add-ons and travel insurance in two places: on the property page while a guest picks dates, and in the checkout sidebar. A guest still deciding whether to book is looking at a longer list of extras than they need, and the extras sit above the total they came to check.

Checkout-Only Add-Ons changes both:

  • On the property page booking widget (and any other booking widget), add-ons and travel insurance are hidden. Guests choosing dates see just the price.
  • In the checkout sidebar, add-ons and travel insurance move below the total. The order reads price breakdown, total, then the optional extras.

If you use Inline Price Breakdown, a breakdown shown below the total stays above the add-ons.

How to turn it on #

1. Check that you use the on-site checkout page #

This feature needs the checkout page on your own site. If your guests go to an external or hosted checkout, they would have no place to pick add-ons at all, so leave this feature off.

2. Switch it on #

In the HomeRunner Toolkit Hub, switch on Checkout-Only Add-Ons. It is off by default.

3. Test a booking #

Open a property page and confirm the widget shows no add-ons or travel insurance. Then continue to checkout and confirm they appear below the total.

Settings #

SettingWhat it controls
Checkout-Only Add-Ons (Toolkit Hub switch)Turns the behavior on or off. There are no other settings. Which add-ons and insurance you offer is still managed where you manage them today.

Tips #

  • Pair it with Conditional Add-Ons if some add-ons should only appear for certain properties.
  • If add-ons disappear everywhere, check that your guests reach the on-site checkout page rather than a hosted checkout.
  • See Toolkit: Overview for the rest of the booking and checkout features.
