Toolkit: Fee Line Separator

2 min read

Fee Line Separator pulls the fees you care about, like cleaning, onto their own line in the price breakdown while every other fee stays combined, so guests see what they are paying for.

What it does #

HomeRunner can roll every fee into a single “Fees:” line in the price breakdown, or fold every fee into the nightly rate so guests see one all-in price. Both keep the breakdown tidy, but they also hide a fee a guest may expect to see called out, like a cleaning fee. Fee Line Separator gives you a middle ground: name the fee or fees you want on their own line, and everything else stays combined the same way your site already combines fees.

So instead of one lumped “Fees:” line, a guest booking a stay might see:

  • Housekeeping: $120
  • Fees: $85

If your site folds fees into the nightly rate instead, the named fee is still broken out on its own line and the remaining fees stay folded into the rate, so your all-in price display is preserved with just the one fee called out.

You choose which fee names get their own line, and you can rename them for guests (for example, show an internal “Cleaning Fee” as “Housekeeping”). Totals never change. This only affects how the breakdown is displayed, on the pricing guests see while booking and on the matching breakdown after they reserve.

While Fee Line Separator is on, it takes over fee combining for you and matches whichever fee setting your site already uses, so you do not need to change your HomeRunner pricing options.

How to turn it on #

1. Switch on the module #

In the HomeRunner Toolkit Hub, open the Pricing section and switch on Fee Line Separator.

2. Name the fees to keep separate #

In Fees to keep separate, enter one fee name per line. Any fee whose title matches stays on its own line, and every other fee is combined the way your site already combines fees. Matching is not case sensitive and ignores a trailing colon. Out of the box this is set to Cleaning Fee.

3. Rename a separated fee (optional) #

To show a fee under a friendlier label, add a rule under Rename separated fees in the form Original || Display, one per line. For example, Cleaning Fee || Housekeeping shows your cleaning fee to guests as “Housekeeping”.

4. Save #

Click Save Fee Settings. The new breakdown applies the next time a guest views pricing.

Settings #

SettingWhat it controls
Fees to keep separateThe fee names that get their own line, one per line. Every fee not listed here is combined. Defaults to “Cleaning Fee”.
Name matchingHow a fee title is compared to the names above. Contains (the default) matches when the title includes the name, which is more forgiving when fee titles vary between markets. Exact matches the whole title only.
Rename separated feesOptional relabeling for separated fees, one rule per line in the format shown in step 3. Defaults to showing “Cleaning Fee” as “Housekeeping”.
Combined line labelThe label for the line that holds all the remaining combined fees. Leave blank to use “Fees:”.
Separated fee positionWhether the separated fee line or lines appear before (the default) or after the combined fees line.

Tips #

  • Fee Line Separator follows your HomeRunner pricing setup. Whether your site shows a combined “Fees:” line or folds fees into the nightly rate, the fees you name are pulled onto their own line and the rest stay combined the same way.
  • If your pricing is set to combine taxes and fees together into one line, there is no clean fee line to pull a single fee out of, so the module stays inactive.
  • If the fees you separate are the only fees on a stay, the combined line does not appear, since there is nothing left to combine.
  • Use Contains matching when your fee titles vary slightly between properties or markets. Switch to Exact only when you need to match one precise title and nothing else.
  • For finer control over the rate plans and prices guests see, pair this with Rate Plan Control. For the full list of Toolkit features, see the HomeRunner Toolkit Overview.
