Show guests the total before the discount, struck through beside the discounted total, so the saving is visible at the number that matters.
What it does #
HomeRunner already strikes through the regular nightly rate when a discount applies, but the total only appears after the discount, so guests never see what they saved. Original Total adds the total before the discount, struck through, next to the discounted total.
It appears in two places:
- The total line of the booking widget.
- Explorer cards that show full pricing for the searched dates.
For example, if a promotion takes $150 off a $1,000 stay, the guest sees $1,000 with a line through it, next to $850. This works for promotions, coupons, and stay discounts.
Totals are unchanged. This only affects what is displayed, and the figure guests pay is the same with or without it.
How to turn it on #
1. Switch it on #
In the HomeRunner Toolkit Hub, switch on Original Total. It is off by default.
2. Check a discounted stay #
Search for dates where a promotion or stay discount applies. The struck-through total should appear beside the discounted total in the booking widget and on explorer cards.
Settings #
| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Original Total (Toolkit Hub switch) | Turns the struck-through total on or off. There are no other settings. |
Good to know #
- Nothing is struck when there is no discount, or when the difference is under one currency unit. Tiny differences are treated as rounding, not a promotion.
- The struck-through figure follows the same tax display as the total next to it, so it matches whichever basis your widget or explorer already uses.
- If a property offers several rate plans, the widget strikes the total for the plan the guest has selected.
- Taxes on the discounted portion are not added back, so the struck-through figure can understate the saving but never overstates it.
Tips #
- Use it with Inline Price Breakdown to show guests both how the total is built and how much they saved.
- If you do not see the struck-through total, confirm a discount actually applies to the searched dates.
- See Toolkit: Overview for related pricing and booking features.
