Lets guests instantly see what a stay costs per person or per family when they split the bill. For operators marketing to groups, friend trips, and multi-family reunions who want to make a big total feel affordable.
What it does #
A large nightly or weekly total can scare off a group even when the per-head cost is very reasonable. The Split Cost Calculator reframes the price: a guest opens it, enters how many people (or how many families) are coming, and immediately sees the cost broken down per person and per night. Suddenly “$4,200 for the week” becomes “$70 per person per night,” which is a far easier yes.
- Splits the booking total by people or by families
- Shows cost per person and per person per night
- Family mode can account for bedrooms per family
- Optional share button so a guest can send the breakdown to their group
- Uses the live quote for the dates the guest has selected
How to turn it on #
1. Open the settings #
Go to HomeRunner Conversion Kit in your WordPress admin and open the Split Cost tab.
2. Show it on property pages #
Turn on Property Page Placement so the trigger button appears in the conversion stack near the booking area. Keep this on even if you plan to place the button yourself with the shortcode below: this setting also controls whether the calculator itself is available on the page, so turning it off disables the calculator everywhere, including anywhere you’ve manually added the shortcode.
3. Set your defaults #
Choose the button label, the default tab (People or Families), and whether the share button is shown.
Settings #
| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Button Text | The label on the trigger button. Default: “Split Cost Calculator”. |
| Default Tab | Whether the calculator opens on People or Families. Default: People. |
| Enable Share | Shows a button that lets guests share their cost breakdown via link or clipboard. On by default. |
| Property Page Placement | Shows the Split Cost trigger, and enables the calculator itself, on property pages. On by default. |
Placing the button manually #
The button appears automatically in the conversion stack, but you can also place it yourself. The shortcode only works on a property listing page; placed anywhere else, it renders nothing.

Tips #
- Lead with the per-person number in your group-travel marketing. The calculator does the same math the guest is already doing in their head, only faster.
- Use Family mode for large homes that sleep multiple households. It pairs naturally with Trip Builder for groups booking more than one home.
