Connecting Your Track Account to HomeRunner

To connect your Track account to HomeRunner, you’ll need a Track API key pair created for this integration and the web address of your Track account. Depending on how you want guests to book, you may also want to decide on a booking method and on which units should appear on your site.

What You’ll Need #

Before starting, make sure you can log in to Track with a user that has access to company configuration. You’ll be collecting the following:

  • Track API Key and API Secret (a Server Key created for HomeRunner)
  • Track Base URL (your Track account address, ending in /api)
  • Booking Preference (Instant Booking vs. Reservation Request)
  • Unit Tags (optional, only if you want to control which units appear on your site)

Getting Your Track Base URL #

Every Track account runs on its own subdomain, and HomeRunner uses that address to reach your data.

  1. Log in to Track.
  2. Look at the address bar. Your account address looks like https://yourcompany.trackhs.com, where yourcompany is specific to your account.
  3. Add /api to the end. The Base URL you will give HomeRunner is https://yourcompany.trackhs.com/api.

Creating a Track API Key #

HomeRunner reads your unit data, including rates and availability, through Track’s PMS API. That API is authorized with a Server Key.

  1. In Track, click the gear icon in the top right to open Configuration.
  2. Under Company Setup, open API Keys.
  3. Click + Server Key.
  4. Name the key “HomeRunner” and save it.
  5. Track displays the Key and Secret. Copy both while you are still on this screen and store them securely.

Important: The key must be a Server Key. Track also issues Channel Keys, which look the same (a key and a secret) but cannot read your units through the PMS API, so the HomeRunner sync fails with a 401 Unauthorized error. If you don’t see a Server Key option, ask your Track account manager or Track support to enable it for your account.

Choosing Which Units Appear on Your Site #

With no tag filters set, HomeRunner imports every unit in your Track account. If you want only some units on your site, tag them in Track and tell HomeRunner which tags to include.

  1. In Track, create a unit-level custom field named “Tags”. HomeRunner only reads tags from this custom field. The built-in unit tags in Track are ignored.
  2. On each unit you want on the site, enter a tag value in that field, such as “HomeRunner”. Separate multiple tags with commas.
  3. When you set up the connection, enter the same tag in Allowed Tags. Tags must match exactly, including capitalization.

You can also use Exclude Tags to hide specific units, and Featured Tag to mark the units your site should highlight.

Payment & Booking Configuration #

Checkout #

A new Track connection uses Track’s hosted checkout. When a guest clicks Book on your site, HomeRunner sends them to the checkout page of your Track booking engine for that unit and those dates, the guest enters payment there, and the reservation is created in Track as usual. HomeRunner’s on-site checkout, where the guest stays on your website through payment, is also supported for Track connections. Contact the HomeRunner team if you would like it enabled.

Booking Method #

During the connection setup, you will choose a Default Reservation Method:

  • Instant Booking: Guests can book immediately without approval.
  • Reservation Request: Guests must request to book, requiring your approval.

Rates #

HomeRunner prices your units from one rate type in Track. Unless you select one, it uses the default rate type Track returns for each unit. If your public pricing lives on a different rate type, open the connection settings after the first sync and select it under Rate Types. The list of rate types loads only after the connection has synced once. Units that have no rates loaded in Track cannot be priced on your site until rates are added in Track.

Sync Timing #

Track does not push updates to integration partners, so HomeRunner fetches your data on a schedule. A change you make in Track, such as a new booking or a rate update, can take up to 60 minutes to reach your website. For the full list of what the Track connection supports, see Feature support by PMS.

Next Steps #

Once you have everything above, you’re ready to add the connection in your HomeRunner Dashboard:

  1. Follow Add New PMS Connection and select Track.
  2. On the Credentials tab, enter your API Key, API Secret and Base URL.
  3. On the Settings tab, choose your Default Reservation Method and enter any Allowed Tags or Exclude Tags.
  4. Submit, then run the first sync as described in Sync a connection.
  5. After the first sync, open the connection settings as described in Configure a PMS connection and select your Rate Type.

Keep your credentials secure and readily available for the setup process.
