# Guesty deposit and balance charge timing

When you use Guesty, Guesty decides when the deposit and balance are charged, not your HomeRunner website.

**How it works.** At checkout, your HomeRunner site passes the guest's card to Guesty with the reservation, through the Stripe account connected in Guesty (**Financials**, **Payment processors**). The auto-payment rules on each listing in Guesty then decide when the card is charged. With a 50/50 rule, the deposit is charged at booking and the balance is scheduled for about 30 days before arrival. When check-in is less than 30 days away, both payments are charged at booking.

**Changing the schedule.** To change when payments are charged, edit the listing's auto-payment settings in Guesty.

**Cancellation wording.** The cancellation wording shown at checkout is set separately in the HomeRunner reservation settings in WordPress. Keep it in line with your Guesty payment schedule.

Still stuck? [Contact the HomeRunner team](https://homerunner.io/contact/) with your site address and what you tried, and we take it from there.
