# Low PageSpeed score with caching enabled

Your site has caching enabled, but Google's PageSpeed test still reports a low score.

**Why this happens.** Caching and the PageSpeed test measure two different things. Repeat visitors hit the cache, so pages load quickly for them. The PageSpeed test usually measures an uncached load, where the server builds the page from scratch. That build time shows up as slow server response, and it is driven by plugins and JavaScript load rather than by caching.

**What this means.** A low lab score with caching enabled points to the origin render needing optimization, not the cache itself.
