# Payment taken but no reservation created

Sometimes a payment is taken at checkout, but no reservation is created. This is not caused by anything your guest did wrong.

**Why this happens.** The two most common causes are the guest staying on the checkout page past the price-quote expiry window, and your PMS API not responding within the time limit while the payment is being processed.
