# Checkout says the booking link is invalid

When you open the checkout page, you may see the message "This booking link is invalid or has expired."

**Why this happens.** The checkout page only works from a quote created on the property page. It is not a page you can open directly with dates in the address. A quote link stops working after it expires or after the booking it belonged to is completed. A bookmarked or copied checkout link shows the same message once the quote behind it has expired.

**What to do.** To test or make a booking, start again from the property page:

1. Open the property page.
2. Choose check-in and check-out dates and guests.
3. Click **Check Availability**.

The site creates a fresh quote and sends you to checkout with the price breakdown, the compare-rates savings box (when enabled), and the guest form.
