# New Stripe key not active at checkout

Saving a Stripe key does not change checkout on your site right away.

**Why this happens.** Your website reads the Stripe key from each property's synced settings. Until a property sync runs after the key is saved, the site has no access to the new key, and pre-authorization is not active.
