# Sodium extension warning in WordPress dashboard

Your WordPress dashboard shows a warning that the sodium PHP extension is not available and license signature verification is disabled.

**Why this happens.** Your hosting server's PHP was built without the sodium extension, which HomeRunner uses to securely verify your license. Your site keeps running and nothing breaks. The plugin simply cannot confirm the license until sodium is available.

**How to resolve it.** There are two options:

1. Ask your hosting provider to enable the PHP sodium extension. It is a standard PHP extension included by default in most modern PHP builds. Once it is enabled, the warning disappears and license verification works immediately.
2. If you use HomeRunner Conversion Kit and your server runs PHP 8.1 or later, update Conversion Kit to version 1.125.4 or later. This version bundles a built-in fallback that verifies your license even without the server extension.

Sites on PHP older than 8.1 still need option 1. Updating PHP to a current version is recommended regardless.

**AI Concierge sites.** AI Concierge does not yet bundle the fallback, so for Concierge sites the fix is to enable the sodium extension through your host.

**Confirming the fix.** After you enable sodium or update Conversion Kit on PHP 8.1 or later, reload wp-admin. The notice is gone, and the license page under **HomeRunner settings** shows the license as active and verified.

Still stuck? [Contact the HomeRunner team](https://homerunner.io/contact/) with your site address and what you tried, and we take it from there.
