# Track 401 Unauthorized error on first sync

If your Track connection fails with a 401 Unauthorized error during the first sync, this usually means a Channel Key was entered instead of a Server Key.

**Why this happens.** Channel Keys look identical to Server Keys but cannot read your units.

**How to fix it.** Create a new Server Key in Track and enter it in HomeRunner:

1. In Track, go to **Configuration > Company Setup > API Keys**.
2. Create a new Server Key.
3. In the HomeRunner Dashboard, re-enter the Key and Secret under **API Key** and **API Secret**.
