# Manual locations and groups reset after sync

You assign a location or group to a property in WordPress, and after the next sync the assignment is gone.

**Why this happens.** HomeRunner treats your PMS as the single source of truth. Locations and groups flow from your PMS tags through to the website. Any assignment you make directly in wp-admin is replaced with PMS data on each sync, which runs automatically roughly every 12 hours.

**How tags become locations and groups.** The permanent way to manage locations and groups is with tags in your PMS. Each account is configured with tag prefixes, commonly "(l)" for locations and "(g)" for groups. A tag that starts with the location prefix becomes a location on the website, and a tag that starts with the group prefix becomes a group. The prefix is removed on the way through, so a tag named "(l) Domburg" appears on the site as the location "Domburg", and "(g) Bungalows" becomes the group "Bungalows".

**To make your assignments permanent:**

1. In your PMS, rename or add tags on each listing using your configured prefixes, for example "(l) Domburg" for a location or "(g) Bungalows" for a group.
2. Wait for the next automatic sync, or contact support to trigger one.
3. Check the site. Website terms are matched by name, so if you already created locations or groups in WordPress with matching names, the properties reconnect to those same pages automatically.

From then on, your PMS is the single place these links are managed, and they survive every sync. A good approach is to rename one or two tags first, trigger a sync, and confirm the result on the site before updating the rest.
