# Checkout error messages showing on page load

You may see checkout messages such as 'Please provide Guest Details' or 'Missing name on card' on the checkout page before a guest has done anything.

**Why this happens.** The plugin only writes these messages when validation runs or when a payment error comes back. The notice containers (.checkout-notice and .card-notice) are empty when the page loads and carry no plugin styling. If they appear before any interaction, your active theme is styling the empty containers, likely by applying a background or border to generic div or notice classes.

**What you can do.** Add the following to your theme's **Additional CSS**:

.checkout-notice:empty, .card-notice:empty { display: none; }

If the messages actually contain text when the page loads, rather than showing as an empty styled box, that is a separate issue. In that case, share the page URL with support so they can look into it further.
