# Caching plugins like WP Rocket show as disabled

On your hosted website, caching plugins such as WP Rocket show as disabled, and no caching plugin is active.

**Why this happens.** Caching is handled at the server level, a layer below WordPress. The web server keeps a full-page cache in front of PHP, and pages viewed by visitors who are not logged in can be served from that cache for up to an hour. Redis runs on the server for object caching.

**What to do.** Caching plugins like WP Rocket are not part of this stack and should not be installed.
