# Booking events in GTM but not GA4

Booking events such as view_item and begin_checkout appear in Google Tag Manager preview, but they never arrive in GA4.

**Why this happens.** HomeRunner writes every booking event into window.dataLayer as a GTM-style object. By default, nothing is sent to GA4 directly. GA4 only receives an event when a GA4 event tag inside your GTM container explicitly forwards it.

**What you can do.** In GTM, create one Custom Event trigger and one GA4 event tag per event, reading ecommerce data from the dataLayer. The HomeRunner docs article "How to Configure Google Tag Manager to Forward eCommerce Events to GA4" walks through the full setup.

Still stuck? [Contact the HomeRunner team](https://homerunner.io/contact/) with your site address and what you tried, and we take it from there.
