# Locked out after incomplete 2FA setup

You enter the correct password and reach a code prompt, but you cannot get past it.

**Why this happens.** This usually means two-factor authentication (2FA) was partially set up on your account, but the step of scanning the QR code into an authenticator app was never completed. The system expects a code, but there is no working code anywhere.

**What to do.** Requesting a password reset will not help in this situation if the reset link also fails. Contact support to clear the incomplete 2FA enrollment so you can log in with your password alone. Then re-enroll 2FA properly using an app like 1Password, which syncs across your devices so you do not get locked out again.
