# Authenticator app setup after a password reset

To log in, you need an authenticator app. Any TOTP authenticator app works. Google Authenticator and Authy are the most common options.

The password reset step itself does not require a code. The QR code scan happens after you log in with the new password.

1. Follow the reset link and set a new password.
2. Log in with the new password. The site displays a QR code.
3. Scan the QR code with your chosen authenticator app.
4. Type the 6-digit code the app shows to complete setup.
