# Listings filters freeze and map does not load

After you apply a filter on the listings page, the other filters stop responding and the map does not work. Switching from Google Maps to Leaflet makes the problem go away.

**Why this happens.** Your Google Maps API key is not authorized for your website's domain. When the key is not authorized, Google disables its mapping functions, which triggers a JavaScript error partway through the filter update. That error interrupts the filter response handler, so the remaining steps never run, including the ones that re-enable the filter controls and update the result count. The result is a broken map and filters that appear frozen after you apply one. Leaflet does not use a Google API key, so it is unaffected.

**What you can do.** To stay on Google Maps, add your website's domain to the authorized referrers list for your Google Maps API key in the **Google Cloud Console**. If you would rather keep using Leaflet, no extra configuration is needed.
