# cURL error 28: resolving timed out

You may see the error **cURL error 28: Resolving timed out after 10001 milliseconds** when an API request is made.

**Why this happens.** The request to the HomeRunner API endpoint timed out during DNS resolution after 10 seconds. The domain name homerunnerapi.com could not be resolved within the timeout period, so the API call could not complete.
