# Abandoned cart email button keeps default color

You change the color on your abandoned cart email, but the button still shows the default color.

**Why this happens.** The email has two separate color settings that control different things. **Accent Color** styles the headings and accents in the email body. The button is controlled by a separate setting, **Button Color**. Changing the accent color has no effect on the button.

**To change the button color:**

1. Go to **Conversion Kit**, then the **Emails** screen.
2. Open the **Cart Recovery** email.
3. Find the field labeled **Button Color** (not **Accent Color**) and set it to the color you want.
4. Save, then trigger or preview the email again.

**If Button Color is empty.** The email falls back to your brand kit's button color. If that is also empty, it uses the built-in default.

The same applies to the other automated emails. Each has its own **Button Color**, and the brand kit provides the fallback for any email that does not set one.
