# Optional travel insurance fee in Guesty

You can offer travel insurance as an optional fee that guests choose to add at checkout. The fee is set up in Guesty.

1. In Guesty, add the travel insurance as a listing-level additional fee on each listing, set as a percentage of total payout.
2. Mark the fee as an **upsell**. The upsell setting is what makes the fee optional.
3. Add a short guest-facing description.
4. Leave the **Airbnb** and **Vrbo** channel toggles off for this fee.
5. Leave the **Booking Engine API** channel unchecked.

**Why the Booking Engine API channel matters.** If the **Booking Engine API** channel is enabled, Guesty adds the fee to every website quote automatically, so guests who decline it are still charged.

Once the fee is configured correctly, HomeRunner picks it up on the next daily sync.
