# Reducing Activity Counter background traffic

Each visitor's browser polls the server to keep the Conversion Kit's live-viewer counter up to date. On a busy site, you can reduce this background traffic by raising the Activity Counter refresh interval.

1. Go to **HomeRunner Conversion Kit** settings.
2. Open the **Activity Counter** section.
3. Increase the **Update interval** value, which is set in seconds.

The default is 30 seconds. A higher value, such as 120 seconds, reduces how often each visitor's browser polls the server.

Still stuck? [Contact the HomeRunner team](https://homerunner.io/contact/) with your site address and what you tried, and we take it from there.
