# Pointing your domain at the new site: ownership

Changing nameservers delegates DNS, it does not move ownership. The domain stays registered in your own registrar account, under your name, and you can move it or change it whenever you want. You will also be given access to the domain's records in Cloudflare, so you can see everything that is set on it. At GoDaddy, the change takes about two minutes:

1. Sign in and open Domain Portfolio, then select the domain.
2. Open Nameservers and choose Change.
3. Choose "I'll use my own nameservers".
4. Replace the two existing GoDaddy entries with the two Cloudflare nameservers you were given, then save. Two things worth knowing before you save: - Use the exact pair you were sent. Cloudflare assigns a different nameserver pair to every domain. A pair copied from another site's instructions will not work. - Email keeps working. If the domain runs business email (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or similar), those mail records are copied into Cloudflare before you make the change, so mail keeps flowing. Say so up front if you have mailboxes on the domain, so it can be confirmed before anything moves. If the domain currently forwards to an older booking page or platform site, that forward stops once the change takes effect, since the new site takes its place. Most nameserver changes go through within an hour. GoDaddy allows up to 24 hours for a full update, so occasionally it takes longer. Nameservers can be checked from any machine with `dig +short NS yourdomain.com`. Once the Cloudflare pair answers, the change has propagated and the zone shows as active.
