# Plugin update fails after licence is corrected

After support confirms your licence is sorted, a HomeRunner plugin update can still fail if WordPress is working from a stale cached list of available updates.

**Why this happens.** WordPress caches its list of available updates for around 12 hours. If you only reload the page, you may see the correct **Upgrade Now** button while the update itself still fails from the stale cache. Clicking **Save License** re-checks your licence against the HomeRunner server and refreshes that cached list.

**What to do.**

1. In the WordPress admin, go to **HomeRunner → License & Updates**.
2. Leave the licence key field exactly as it is and click **Save License**. Use **Save License** rather than just reloading the page.
3. Check that you see 'License activated'.
4. Update the plugin as normal from the **Plugins** screen.

Still stuck? [Contact the HomeRunner team](https://homerunner.io/contact/) with your site address and what you tried, and we take it from there.
