# Changing the default search results sort order

The default sort order on your homes search results page is set by the first entry in the Explorer sort options list.

**To change the site default:**

1. In WordPress, go to **HomeRunner > Settings > Explorer**.
2. Reorder the **Sort options** list so the option you want as the default appears first, for example "By Number of Bedrooms (High to Low)".
3. Save, then reload the search page to confirm the correct option is selected in the dropdown and the results are ordered accordingly.

Guests still see the full dropdown and can change the sort themselves.

**To change one page only.** If you only need one specific page to differ from the site default, add a sort attribute to that page's explorer shortcode, for example sort="bedrooms__desc". After saving, reload that page to confirm the correct option is selected in the dropdown and the results are ordered accordingly.

Still stuck? [Contact the HomeRunner team](https://homerunner.io/contact/) with your site address and what you tried, and we take it from there.
