# Filtering properties by a custom feature

When guests type a feature name, such as a pizza oven, into the free-text box in the search bar, the results do not change and all homes still appear. That box does not filter results.

**Why this happens.** Filtering works through the **Filter** tab, which shows amenity checkboxes pulled from your PMS, and through the quick filter chips displayed under the search bar.

**How to make a custom feature searchable.**

1. In your PMS, add the same tag to every property that has the feature. Use identical tag text on each one.
2. Wait for the next sync so the tags are pulled into your website.
3. Ask HomeRunner support to add a quick filter chip in **Searchbar Pro** with the filter type set to **Tag**, the tag text as its value, and a label and icon of your choice.

Once the chip is live, clicking it narrows the results to only the tagged properties. Any property you tag later appears in those results after its next sync.

Still stuck? [Contact the HomeRunner team](https://homerunner.io/contact/) with your site address and what you tried, and we take it from there.
