# Using your own GTM container and GA4

You can use your own Google Tag Manager container and GA4 property on your HomeRunner site. HomeRunner's GTM container is shared across all HomeRunner sites, so direct access to it is not available. Instead, you can run your own container alongside it, or have HomeRunner's container removed entirely once your setup is verified.

**To set this up:**

1. Install your own GTM container on the site using a header-snippet plugin, GTM4WP, or the theme's head section. Confirm the container ID appears in the page source when you view the site logged out.
2. Build your GA4 tags and triggers against the standard GA4 ecommerce events that HomeRunner's checkout pushes to the dataLayer: view_item on property pages, begin_checkout at checkout, and purchase on the confirmation page, with the booking confirmation number as transaction_id. Your GTM container can read these events.
3. Once your container is live and you have confirmed that a purchase appears in your GA4 property from a real visitor session, contact support.

**Self-Managed Analytics.** After you contact support, support can enable the **Self-Managed Analytics** option, available in HomeRunner Toolkit 3.227.0 or later. This option removes HomeRunner's container from your site while the booking dataLayer events continue firing for your container. After it is enabled, HomeRunner's container no longer appears in the page source, and the view_item and purchase dataLayer pushes still fire as expected.

Still stuck? [Contact the HomeRunner team](https://homerunner.io/contact/) with your site address and what you tried, and we take it from there.
