# Subdomain shows ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS error

When you open a subdomain on your site, the browser shows **ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS** or a message that the page "redirected you too many times."

**Why this happens.** The subdomain's DNS record in Cloudflare has the proxy turned on (orange cloud), and the third-party service hosting that page also enforces HTTPS. Cloudflare and the external service keep bouncing the request back and forth.

**How to fix it.**

1. Go to Cloudflare DNS.
2. Find the record for that subdomain.
3. Change **Proxy status** from **Proxied** to **DNS only** (grey cloud).

The record's target address stays the same. The link should start working within a few minutes.

Browsers cache redirect loops for a while, so visitors who already saw the error may need to do a hard refresh or open a private window.

Still stuck? [Contact the HomeRunner team](https://homerunner.io/contact/) with your site address and what you tried, and we take it from there.
